GREAT LAKES PAIN & TREATMENT CENTERS, LTD is dedicated to the specialized treatment of spine, musculoskeletal, and nerve dysfunction and pain due to degenerative conditions, sports, work, and other back pain and spine injuries. Our main goal is to help patients eliminate pain and maximize function using a team approach with all providers.

We provide pain management for patients in our State of the Art Out Patient Surgery Center conveniently located in Lombard, IL. We provide our patients excellent courteous care, door-to-door transportation, complete scheduling and reports within 72 hours. Additionally, we provide Neuro-Diagnostic Testing on-site, secondary evaluation for all patients referred to our facility.

Surgical Services Provided:

Epidural Injection: epidural steroid injection delivers anti-inflammatory medicine directly to the affected area of the back to reduce inflammation that may be irritating the nerve root

• Discogram: Used for Diagnosing Discogenic Pain
• Nerve Block: Nerve blocks are used to treat chronic pain when drugs or other treatments do not control pain or cause bad side effects. A test block is usually performed with local anesthetic to the area of injection.
• Radio-frequency: lesioning is a safe proven means of interrupting pain signals. Radiofrequency current is used to heat up a small volume of nerve tissue, thereby interrupting pain signals from that specific area.
• Spinal Stimulator Implant: neurostimulation works by applying an electrical current to the source of chronic pain. This creates a pleasant sensation that blocks the brain's ability to sense the previously perceived pain
• Micro-Discectomy: a small portion of the bone over the nerve root and/or disc material from under the nerve root is removed to relieve neural impingement and provide more room for the nerve to heal. A microdiscectomy spine surgery is typically performed for lumbar herniated disc.

Diagnostic & Evaluation Services:

Nerve Conduction Study: electrodes much like EKG patches are placed along the known course of the nerve. The nerve is stimulated with a tiny electrical current at one point. The nerve must then transmit the signal along its course, and an electrode placed further down the arm or leg captures the signal as it passes it. A healthy nerve will transmit the signal faster and stronger than a sick nerve.

Electromyography: measures the electrical activity in muscles. Muscles normally receive constant electrical signals from healthy nerves, and in return "broadcast" their own healthy electrical signals. During the EMG portion of the test, the doctor places acupuncture like needles into the muscles to record the electrical signal from the various muscles in the arm or leg. If a muscle doesn't receive adequate signals from a sick nerve, it broadcasts signals, which show the muscle is confused.
